"Railway Connectivity Breakthrough: Northern Railways Plans Drone Survey for New Rail Line Linking Sopore to Kupwara"
In a significant development for the remote district of Kupwara, Northern Railways is gearing up to conduct a drone survey, marking a crucial step towards establishing rail connectivity in the region. The district administration has granted conditional permission for the survey, paving the way for a new rail line between Sopore and Kupwara, spanning a distance of 33.7 kilometers.
Officials revealed that the drone survey is part of the First Survey Line (FSL) work for the proposed rail line, aimed at seamlessly connecting the border district of Kupwara to the broader railway network. This strategic rail alignment is anticipated to play a pivotal role in enhancing transportation infrastructure in the northern region.
While the permission for the drone survey has been granted, it comes with specific conditions to ensure the safety and security of the area. According to an official communication, Northern Railways is required to collaborate with local police, paramilitary forces (PMF), and sister agencies. Moreover, they assume personal responsibility in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.
The conditions set for Northern Railways include cooperation with local police/PMF and sister agencies, reporting to the concerned police station or police posts before travel in the specified areas, and refraining from causing obstructions in the free flow of traffic. Additionally, the permission emphasizes the avoidance of annoyance to the general public, educational institutes, religious places, and other essential establishments. The use of drones near the Line of Control (LoC) and sensitive areas is strictly prohibited.
The permission, issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, also stipulates that the survey organizers must adhere to guidelines issued by the Supreme Court or any other competent court. Furthermore, it specifies that the use of drones during the survey is restricted to daytime hours, from 9 am to 4 pm.
This development marks a significant stride in the efforts to improve connectivity and infrastructure in the region, opening up new possibilities for economic and social development in the remote district of Kupwara.
