"13-Year-Old Rabab Prodigy, Ishfaq Hamid, Receives Pradhan Mantri Bal Puraskar for Musical Excellence"

In a heartwarming tale of passion and dedication, Ishfaq Hamid, a 13-year-old Rabab maestro from the Kreeri area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district, has earned the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Bal Puraskar Award for his exceptional contributions to the world of music. His melodious compositions, resonating far beyond the region, have not only garnered accolades but also national recognition.

Discovering his love for the Rabab at the tender age of seven, Ishfaq, now a sixth-grade student, views the instrument not merely as a musical tool but as a companion—a language through which he eloquently expresses his emotions. Under the guidance of his father, Abdul Hamid, a seasoned Rabab player with 37 years of experience, Ishfaq embraced the family tradition and embarked on a journey to become a maestro in his own right.

President of India, Daroupadi Murmu, presented Ishfaq with the Pradhan Mantri Bal Puraskar Award at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi, on January 22, marking a significant milestone in the young musician's budding career. Overjoyed by the honor, Ishfaq expressed his gratitude and acknowledged that receiving the award from the President was a dream come true.

Reflecting on his musical journey, Ishfaq emphasized the importance of family support, particularly his father's guidance. He has not only performed locally but also showcased his talent in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Delhi, while accompanying his father. For Ishfaq, music is a way to connect with his roots, and he aspires to carry forward the rich cultural legacy embedded in the soulful strings of the Rabab.

Abdul Hamid, filled with pride at his son's national recognition, sees Ishfaq's dedication as a celebration of their valley's cultural heritage. He expressed gratitude for the constant encouragement and support from the family, highlighting the collective effort that has fueled Ishfaq's passion for the Rabab.

In Ishfaq's view, success is achievable through dedication and setting defined goals. He encourages aspiring musicians to remain focused on their pursuits, emphasizing that success is not an elusive mirage but a tangible reality within reach for those who stay committed to their dreams. Ishfaq's story serves as an inspiration, showcasing the power of dedication, familial support, and a love for tradition in shaping a young artist's remarkable journey.
